About Evgenii
Evgenii Norbutas was born in Novosibirsk, Siberia in 1998. He began his musical education at a special music school in Novosibirsk, then at the Novosibirsk Conservatory of Music in the classroom of professors Vladimir Shketin, Elena Levitskaya and Ivan Shikhanov. In 2015, Evgenii entered the Gnessins College, studying with Natalia Stepina. During his studies at the Gnessins College, Evgenii took part in many competitions and master classes including the Fourth Moscow Open competition for young flute players and wind ensembles Moscow, where he won 2nd prize. Evgenii also won 3rd prize at the Fifth Moscow Open Competition Festival of Young Artists on Wind and Percussion Instruments named after Yu.N. Dolzhikova. Evgenii has participated in the following master classes: Denis Buryakov Moscow, December 2016, William Bennett, April 2017 Moscow, Emmanuel Pahud, March 2018 St. Petersburg, Janos Balint Moscow, September 2018. Can American Flute symposium, 2025.
During his studies Evgenii played many concerts as a soloist including the Gnessin College and the Jewish Cultural Center named after Ralf Goldman. He also played concerts with the string orchestra, and the wind orchestra of Gnessin College, as well as with the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra.
In terms of scholarships, in 2018, Evgenii received a scholarship from the William Bennett Summer School, where he studied in July 2018. While there, Evgenii participated in master classes from Lorna McGhee, William Bennett and Michie Bennett. In 2020, Evgenii also received the James Galway Summer Academy Scholarship but was unable to attend due to the pandemic.
Currently, Evgenii is pursuing an Artist Diploma at the Glenn Gould School of Music with Susan Hoeppner.
Evgenii worked as a flute teacher for 8 years at a music school named after E. Grieg in Moscow, where he also worked as a conductor of a wind orchestra. Over the course of Evgenii's teaching career, he has developed his own teaching method based on the approach of Professor Y. Dolzhikov from the Moscow Conservatory.

Every student has unique musical goals, individual characteristics and varying levels of talent. My aim, as a teacher, is to help each student find their own path to achieving their musical objectives. Furthermore, I believe that professional growth is important, but so is the development of the individual as a whole.
