Dr. Gillian Turnbull Interviewed by CBC News for her Book Release

Ryerson University professor and Neighbour Note piano teacher Dr. Gillian Turnbull was recently interviewed by CBC Calgary for her latest book release Sonic Booms: Making Music in an Oil Town. The book explores the relationship between the Calgary roots music scene and the energy industry. According to Gillian the Calgary music scene is unlike any other music scene in Canada. Simply put, it is incredibly tight knit, supportive, and a great place to make music. Calgary musicians are fortunate to be able to book lucrative gigs such as Stampede lunches and parties through the oil and gas industry which in turn helps fund their music careers.
