ABOUT TED

Ted was surrounded by music from a young age, learning bass, piano and clarinet before settling on tenor saxophone as his main instrument. He has a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Saxophone performance from McGill University where he studied with Montreal greats Remi Bolduc, Frank Lozano and Chris McCann.

Since graduating, Ted has worked professionally across the globe in a variety of musical contexts from rock bands to jazz ensembles to show bands. He has led his own groups and played at world renowned venues and festivals such as the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Vancouver Jazz Festival, the Osheaga music festival, and the Suoni Per Il Popolo festival.

Ted tries to help students develop a personal practice, improve their understanding of music as a whole and to discover their own unique creative process and how to harness it.

As a teacher, Ted tries to help students develop a personal practice, improve their understanding of music as a whole and to discover their own unique creative process and how to harness it. While jazz is his focus, Ted prides himself in being able to play and teach different styles of music, everything from classical to jazz to rock to free improvisation.
